Spain hotel demand is tracking close to summer 2025, with overnight stays up 0.3% year on year, CEHAT president Jorge Marichal says. The national result meets industry expectations, while strong international business continues despite global uncertainty and geopolitical problems.
The industry forecast is holding up
CEHAT says the summer season is unfolding calmly and broadly in line with expectations set by its hotel industry observatory, prepared with PwC.
Spain’s National Statistics Institute, known as the INE, provides the overnight-stay data cited by Marichal.
Where Spain hotel demand is stronger than expected
Northern Spain and Zaragoza are among the positive surprises this summer.
Campsites in Asturias stand out within the northern market. CEHAT did not provide separate growth figures for the region, its campsites or Zaragoza.
Fuerteventura records a slight decline
Fuerteventura is one of the destinations reporting a small fall compared with the same period last year.
The island’s result contrasts with the modest increase recorded across Spain as a whole and shows how performance differs between individual tourism markets.
International visitors remain resilient
Demand from overseas travellers remains a source of strength for Spanish accommodation businesses, Marichal says.
That resilience continues despite economic uncertainty and geopolitical difficulties around the world. The current figures measure stays already recorded, however, rather than future room prices or availability.
